Tihar gifts, delivered in Nepal

Tihar is five days long and each has its own character — crows, then dogs, then Laxmi Puja, when every doorway in the country is lined with diyo and the mandala outside the house is repainted for the goddess to walk in on.

It closes with Bhai Tika, which is the day most people abroad feel the distance. Sisters put a seven-coloured tika on their brothers' foreheads, feed them sel roti and sweets, and brothers give something back. It is one relationship, in one direction, on one day — which is exactly why a parcel that arrives on time matters so much.

Mithai and sel roti belong to this festival more than any other. Dry fruit and chocolate carry well for a brother or sister who will share them around.

Flowers matter here in a way they do not at other festivals — makhamali garlands are part of Bhai Tika itself, not decoration. If you are sending for that day specifically, say so in the note and we will pack accordingly.

Bhai Tika falls at the end of the five days, so the order-by date above is set against that rather than the start of the festival. Laxmi Puja is the busiest delivery day of the Nepali year in Kathmandu, and it sits between the two.
