The women's festival — red saris, fasting, and a day of gathering that turns Pashupatinath into a crowd.
Haritalika Teej is a fast kept by women, married and unmarried, and the day before it is dar khane din — a feast eaten together before the fasting begins. Red is worn everywhere, and the singing and dancing that go with it are as much a part of the day as the ritual.
It is the festival most often forgotten by people sending gifts from abroad, and the one most appreciated when it is not. For a mother, a wife or a sister keeping the fast, something arriving that morning says you knew what day it was.
Red flowers are the most direct answer and read instantly. Sweets are for dar khane din the evening before, not the fasting day itself — if that is what you intend, choose the earlier date at checkout.
Bangles, jewellery and anything red are traditional. If you are not sure, a good bouquet delivered on the morning of the fast is never wrong.
Teej is a single day rather than a multi-day festival, which makes timing tighter than Dashain or Tihar — there is no window either side to absorb a late order. The date above is the last day we can promise arrival.
If you want to send for dar khane din instead, choose the day before the festival at checkout. That is when the food actually gets eaten.
We hand-deliver across Kathmandu Valley — Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur — and to Pokhara, Chitwan and Biratnagar. You choose the date and a morning, afternoon or evening slot, and we photograph the handover and email you the picture.
If the address you need is outside those areas, message us before you order. We can often arrange it, but we would rather answer the question than take an order we cannot keep.
Should I send for Teej itself or the day before?
Flowers for the day itself; sweets and food for dar khane din the evening before, since Teej is a fasting day. You choose the delivery date at checkout either way.
Can you deliver to a temple or a gathering?
We deliver to a street address, not to a crowd. Send it to the house in the morning before she leaves.
Do you have red flowers specifically?
Yes. Note it in the message box and we will pick red for the arrangement wherever the season allows.
